Heat — The Primary Risk

Vinyl becomes pliable at approximately 60–70°C — temperatures easily reached inside parked vehicles in UAE summer. Records stored in direct sunlight or poorly ventilated storage will warp. The corrective rule is simple but non-negotiable:

Desert Dust (Dubai, Abu Dhabi interior, Al Ain)

Fine desert particulate is more abrasive than organic dust and accumulates in record grooves rapidly. A brush before every play is essential — not occasional. 1. Room temperature control — air conditioning maintains 20–25°C. Essential, not optional.
2. Store upright — never flat. Flat stacking warps the bottom records under weight.
3. Away from windows — UV light degrades vinyl and fades cover art. No direct sunlight.
4. Polyethylene inner sleeves — replace paper sleeves immediately. Polyethylene is inert, anti-static, moisture-resistant.
5. Outer sleeves — protect covers from UAE dust and humidity.
